Respect

You’re never alone on the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders should take care not to endanger or harm others. Always keep an eye on other piste users; no one has “right of way” – mutual respect and consideration are key.

Hold your line

An abrupt change in style, direction or speed can catch skiers and snowboarders behind you unawares. Choose your line to leave plenty of space for those in front of you. Always take a look behind you before stopping, starting or turning uphill.

Overtaking

Keep a safe distance when overtaking other piste users. You should leave enough room to allow the person being overtaken to manoeuvre.

Waiting in line

All skiers and snowboarders want the same thing: to enjoy a great day on the slopes. Lift queues are inevitable on days with good weather. Standing calmly in line without trying to push in makes for a friendly atmosphere and is also good for your equipment.

Vehicles

In exceptional circumstances, snow mobiles and snow groomers might be operating when you’re out on the slopes. Collisions can have fatal consequences. This is why you should:

• Always let vehicles go first
• Keep your distance
• If you can’t move around them, stop and make sure the driver can see you.
